Northland Youth Theatre is a trust dedicated to benefiting the community generally, in particular by supporting, educating and training young people in northland in theatre.
Since it’s beginning’s in the early 1980’s by founder Alan Palmer, NYT as been a hatchery for Northland Talent. The structure of seasons have taken many forms over the years. Originally for 14yr olds up, we now accommodate 10yrs and up for Shows and 7yrs up for Holiday programmes.
NYT strives to employ professional directors and designers from around the country to ensure a quality experience for actor and audience. Many NYT actors and staff have gone on to careers within the performing arts sector.
